Fort Clatsop and USCG (& Dan's birthday dinner)

On Thursday I fixed Dan an early birthday dinner of pot roast, mashed potatoes (although Dan volunteered to mash the almost 5 pounds of potatoes), green beans with bacon, scones (plain & cheesy dill) and peach blackberry cobbler. When I wasn't cooking, I did some quilting. Fred went & played golf.

Today we went to Fort Clatsop, the winter "home" in 1805-6 of Lewis & Clark. It was named after the local Indian tribe. They stayed in the fort from December to March...only had saw the sun 6 days & rained all but 12 days during that period. This is one of the newest National parks & they had an
interesting film about the Lewis & Clark & Corps of Discovery.

Trees growing on the roof!

Afterwards we went to see Dan and got a tour of the US Coast Guard station.

Pilot Fred?
