Sunrise to Sunset.....and the Oregan Trail

We knew today was going to be a lloonngg day plus a time change so we left at 5:30 this morning. Twelve hours later we pulled into Wolf  Creek in Eden, UT near Ogden. In the first 2 hours this morning, we saw a sunrise, maybe 2 houses, a couple of barns and maybe 20 cars and trucks. This area is isolated to be sure!

Part of this area is the Oregon Trail. I wonder what the early settlers would have thought if they could have gone 75-80 MPH (yes, that is the legal speed limit).  Their trip took about 5 months and was from 1-3 mph! In Vale, OR the Main Street was part of the Oregon Trail and there are numerous murals depicting the early settlers.

We finally got to Idaho and the Snake River. It is amazing to see what irrigation can do to an area! After lunch in Twin Falls, we went to see the Snake River Gorge and the Shoshnose Falls. The Falls are being "renovated" so you don't get the full effect of how beautiful they are.

Snake River.....400' feet below!

Another 3.5 hours of driving and we finally arrived at our destination..just in time to see a beautiful sunset.
