Yesterday Fred and I went downtown & explored while Tracy worked....even went to two quilt stores. We ate lunch at Fort George Brewery and Public House. It was built on the site of the first American settlement on the west coast. After Tracy got off work, we went to Fort Stevens State Park. The jetty was built to make the channel going from the Pacific Ocean to the Columbia River safer. It was built by placing train tracks on the huge boulders & dumping more stones as the tracks were extended...then building more track.
Today we drove down to Seaside and Cannon Beach. At Seaside, we couldn't see the ocean for the fog. Went to a fantastic quilt shop in Cannon Beach & had a delicious lunch. Haystack Rock was was barely visible at Cannon Beach. The sun came out this afternoon. We went to Bowpicked and for fish and chips for a picnic dinner at the Astoria Column.

I have to admit I am jealous. I have planted probably a pound of lupine seeds at the mountain house and probably have 5-6 plants to show for my effort. These are Tracy's lupines she planted this year!
